On the anniversary of the election of late President Bachir Gemayel, Kataeb Lawmaker Nadim Gemayel emphasized that the martyred president is the greatest in the history of Lebanon, embodying a vision and dream that he brought to the country.

In an interview with 'El Siyasa' newspaper, he stated, "When we talk about Bachir Gemayel, we talk about a human being, an individual, a leader, a resistance fighter, a president, and we must also add 'a man of thought' for this country."

He added, "Late President Bachir Gemayel encompasses all the qualities, summarizing seven years of struggle, resistance, and defense of Lebanon during the 21 days of his presidency."

Gemayel noted that Bachir is an icon and a way of life, someone anyone can look up to as a role model for how to behave in life, indicating that he learns from Bachir and draws lessons from him by adhering to the noble principles he upheld.

He pointed out that if Bachir were alive today, Lebanon would not be in its current state, with armed militias on the ground, compromised sovereignty, and foreign occupations of Lebanese territory.

He highlighted that those who assassinated Bachir aimed to lead Lebanon to the collapse, degradation, and chaos it faces today, whether in terms of economic and social conditions or regarding sovereignty and politics in the south or elsewhere.

He added, "What we have experienced for the past 30 years is the result of individuals and systems that decided to assassinate Bachir—not just as an individual but as a project and a vision for the Lebanon we want in the future."

Nadim asserted that Bachir was ahead of his time, not only in Lebanon but across the Arab world and the entire Middle East. 

He noted that today the Arab world is catching up to Bashir's ideas; when Bachir fought against the Palestinians, the Arabs were trying to impose them on us, only to realize that they had differences with them and sought to expel them from their countries.

He underscored that Bachir was concerned with peace in the region, national prosperity, and stability in the Arab world, stating that the Arab world has moved ahead of us in achieving stability, peace, and a new paradigm for the Middle East. This all indicates that he was right, and his assassination was an assassination of his project.

Regarding the war in the south, he remarked, "Lebanese people do not want war. The war we were dragged into was not initiated by Lebanon; rather, it was brought upon us by an individual who, on his own, decided on October 8 to plunge all Lebanese into a crisis and a tunnel of war, assassination, bombing, destruction, and chaos. Therefore, we reject this situation."

He expressed disbelief at how some Lebanese attempt to justify Hezbollah's entry into the war by claiming it is a supportive front for the Palestinians, asserting that Lebanese people should stand united and state the truth as it is, without providing any justification for Hezbollah's actions in the south.

He added, "Hezbollah has done nothing but showcase itself through propaganda and media productions. The ones truly paying the price and shedding blood are the Shiite Lebanese citizens living in the south."

 "The environment that supports Hezbollah rejects the ongoing destruction and chaos in the south and Bekaa. The same applies to all Lebanese. If we want to support Gaza and the Palestinians, there are other ways we can do so," he concluded.
