President Joseph Aoun moved quickly to rally Lebanon’s top officials as tensions across the region mounted, pressing for heightened readiness and tighter coordination to protect the country from any spillover.

According to a statement from the presidency, Aoun spoke with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Public Works and Transport Minister Fayez Rasamny, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa and Army Commander Gen. Rodolphe Haykal. He also held consultations a day earlier with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

The contacts were part of what the presidency described as ongoing efforts to monitor fast-moving regional developments and gauge their potential impact on Lebanon.

In his discussions, Aoun emphasized the need for maximum preparedness and seamless coordination among the country’s constitutional authorities and security and administrative agencies. Safeguarding Lebanon, he said, requires unified action at a time of growing uncertainty.

“This delicate phase calls for a full commitment to national responsibility,” Aoun said, urging political leaders and state institutions to put Lebanon’s overarching national interest ahead of all other considerations.

He stressed that keeping Lebanon out of the “disasters and horrors” of outside conflicts, as well as preserving its sovereignty, security and stability must remain paramount. Lebanon, long vulnerable to regional power struggles, cannot afford to be dragged into confrontations beyond its borders, he warned.

Aoun called for stronger internal solidarity and a coordinated national response to confront looming challenges and prevent any repercussions from reaching Lebanese soil or affecting its people.

He also reaffirmed that the State, through all of its institutions, would remain the primary guarantor of security and stability, pledging that authorities would work to protect all citizens and defend the country’s territorial integrity.
