President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reviewed the latest political and security developments in Lebanon on Friday, with discussions focusing on the outcome of Aoun's recent visit to Washington, the implementation of the U.S.-brokered framework agreement with Israel, and efforts to reinforce State authority in southern Lebanon.

During a meeting at the Presidential Palace, Aoun briefed Salam on his talks in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, outlining what he described as U.S. commitments to strengthen support for the Lebanese Army and assist Lebanon across multiple sectors.

According to the presidency, Aoun also informed the prime minister of Washington's commitment to implementing the U.S.-brokered framework agreement with Israel. He reiterated Lebanon's position that Tel Aviv must complete its withdrawal from all Lebanese villages and towns.

For his part, PM Salam updated Aoun on his recent visit to the southern town of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh following the withdrawal of Israeli forces and the deployment of the Lebanese Army.

"I reaffirmed that we stand with our people in the South and remain by their side," Salam said. "The State is determined to meet their needs in a way that enables them to remain on their land and protect their livelihoods."

The two leaders also discussed Salam's planned visit to Iraq on Sunday, where he is expected to meet Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to explore ways of strengthening Lebanese-Iraqi relations across a range of sectors.
