But the announcement of a ceasefire between the two countries following two days of deadly cross-border clashes had a different tone to it. Historically, the Lebanese Armed Forces have rarely shelled Syrian positions directly, even less those of the Syrian army. This time, the clashes were direct.

Moving Past “Wait and See” in South Lebanon: The U.S.-French Role
On March 11, U.S. deputy special envoy for the Middle East Morgan Ortagus announced that the United States will be “bringing together Lebanon and Israel for talks aimed at diplomatically resolving several outstanding issues,” with various “working groups” focused on addressing “the release of Lebanese prisoners, the remaining disputed points along the Blue Line and the remaining 5 points where Israeli forces are still deployed.” This statement followed the sixth military-to-military meeting at the UN peacekeeping headquarters in Naqoura, which brought together Israel, Lebanon, the United States, and France.

First Woman Appointed to Lead Grammys Academy
Deborah Dugan has been named as president and CEO of the Recording Academy, Grammys, thus becoming the first woman to fill the position.
Dugan, who serves as the chief executive officer of Bono's (RED) organization, will succeed Neil Portnow who has led the Grammys since 2002.
She was previously the president of Disney Publishing Worldwide and executive vice president at EMI/Capitol Records.
"I'm honoured, humbled, and ready," Dugan said in a statement. "The goal of the Recording Academy is to support, encourage and advocate for those within the music community. I will listen to and champion all of those individuals, and lead this iconic organisation into the future. I'm excited to get started."
