Prosecutors in Paris announced that they have dropped the rape case against actor Gerard Depardieu, who had been accused of sexual assault by an unnamed 22-year-old actress and dancer last year.

“A number of investigations undertaken as part of this procedure have not enabled us to characterize the crimes alleged in all of their individual parts,” a statement via Reuters said.

Depardieu had denied the allegations and dismissed the charges as baseless.
