Defense Minister, Army Commander, and Chief of Staff Discuss Security and Ceasefire Implementation in South Lebanon

Defense Minister Maurice Sleem met with Army Commander General Joseph Aoun and Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Aoude at the Yarzeh headquarters to review the country's security situation, with a particular focus on developments in the south.

Their discussions centered on the army’s deployment efforts to uphold the ceasefire and implement the deployment plan in coordination with the Quintet Committee, which oversees these measures.

The Defense Minister condemned Israel’s ongoing violations and attacks on southern villages, characterizing them as clear breaches of the ceasefire arrangements, violations of commitments by sponsoring nations, and a blatant infringement on Lebanese sovereignty and U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701.

Sleem emphasized the importance of international action, urging sponsoring countries to pressure Israel into halting its violations and complying with the ceasefire agreements.

These agreements mandate an end to hostilities and the withdrawal of forces beyond the international borders in alignment with Resolution 1701.
