A fabricated social media persona posing as a leftist Christian intellectual and vocal Hezbollah supporter has reportedly scammed his followers out of a large sum of money before vanishing, kataeb.org has learned.
According to sources, the fake account operated under the name of someone from the Haddad family and described its owner as a leftist thinker and researcher. The individual became known during the recent war for bombastic writings that glorified Hezbollah and aggressively targeted the group’s political rivals — often to the point of sycophancy and outright falsehoods.
The persona abruptly "disappeared" by falsely announcing its own death, in what appears to have been the final act in a calculated con.
Sources say the account drew a strong following among Hezbollah sympathizers, aided by its Christian identity and unwavering pro-resistance messaging. Once it had secured the community’s trust, the individual began soliciting money from followers under the pretense of serious illness. After raising a substantial amount, the account went silent, and its operator disappeared without a trace.
Further investigation suggests that the man behind the scheme is a well-known Lebanese journalist, who has also long claimed to be a political and cultural analyst aligned with the so-called “Axis of Resistance.” Previously, he held a senior editorial position at a major local newspaper before leaving to pursue a television career which ended in failure.
With few professional options remaining, he allegedly turned to social media as a last resort to generate income, even if it meant resorting to deception and fraud.
