This was not the first time a Lebanese official had visited the White House and received support. Head of the Marada Movement Sleiman Frangieh stressed that his party was with the Taif agreement and its full implementation.
"We are with the Taif agreement and its full implementation, and if Moawad becomes president, we will cooperate with him, but this does not mean that we will elect him," Frangieh said after meeting with Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi in Bkerke.
"We came to clarify some matters, and we are on good terms with Patriarch Rahi, and our vision for the future is one, especially with regard to the social situation," he added.
