According to Lebanese Forces Party leader, Samir Geagea, , Parliament speaker Nabih Berri's recent actions represent a continuation of efforts to obstruct the electoral process through unconstitutional proposals, putting pressure on the opposition.
In remarks to L'Orient Le Jour, Geagea reaffirmed his stance on supporting former minister Jihad Azour for the presidency, insisting that discussions on alternative candidates could only proceed if Hezbollah withdraws its nominee. However, he noted that serious deliberations have been hindered by the opposition's refusal to hold open sessions and agree on alternative options.
Regarding the situation in southern Lebanon, Geagea warned against destabilizing the existing balance since the adoption of Resolution 1701 in 2006. He emphasized the need to avoid actions that could escalate tensions, particularly given the lack of effective governance in Lebanon.
Geagea criticized Hezbollah's decision-making aligned with Iranian interests, which he believes has led Lebanon into crises. He lamented the loss of lives during the conflict and expressed frustration over the lack of accountability and responsibility in addressing the country's challenges.
