Gemayel Highlights Path to Stability in Talks with Hungarian Ambassador

Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel received Hungary’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Ferenc Csillag, with whom he discussed Lebanon’s internal challenges, regional developments, and the importance of fostering bilateral ties.

During the meeting, Gemayel highlighted the urgent need to uphold the ceasefire agreement that came into effect at the end of November. He called for the deployment of the Lebanese Army throughout the country and the full implementation of international resolutions to restore Lebanon’s sovereignty over its entire territory.

Gemayel also emphasized the importance of electing a president capable of steering Lebanon out of its current crises. He stressed that the new president must prioritize convening a national conference focused on truth and reconciliation among the Lebanese people. Such an initiative, he argued, would help close the chapter on past divisions and lay the foundation for a state built on equality and genuine partnership.

Gemayel commended Hungary’s supportive role in Lebanon, praising the strong bilateral relations between the two nations. He expressed gratitude for Hungary’s continued efforts to assist the Lebanese people during these difficult times.

The meeting, held at Gemayel's office in Bikfaya, were attended by Kataeb Political Bureau member Saadallah Ardo, Head of the Party’s Foreign Affairs Department Marwan Abdallah, and department member lawyer Elie Rizk. Ambassador Csillag was accompanied by Hungary’s First Secretary, Sándor Bálint.
