Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel on Thursday held talks with United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, with talks featuring high on Lebanon’s political and security developments.
Gemayel described the Cabinet’s recent move on arms control as a significant step toward reclaiming Lebanon’s sovereignty and reasserting state authority.
“This government decision is a sign that the effort to restore the state is on the right track,” he said, but cautioned that the true test lies in implementation.
“Either Lebanon becomes a real state, or it doesn’t,” he added.
Gemayel stressed that Lebanon must seize the opportunity created by shifting dynamics across the Middle East, encouraging deeper international support to help the country align with positive regional change.
“It’s essential that Lebanon keeps pace with the constructive transformations taking place in the region,” Gemayel told Hennis-Plasschaert. “Only by doing so can we lift the country out of crisis, achieve stability, and be part of a renewed regional dynamic."
The meeting, held at the Kataeb headquarters in Saifi, was attended by Political Bureau member Dr. Zeina Hobeika and the party’s Head of Foreign Affairs Department Marwan Abdallah.
