The Lebanese army is investigating the cause of a deadly explosion at a Hezbollah weapons and missile depot in southern Lebanon that killed six soldiers and wounded several others, Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported.

The detonation pulverised the port, ruined vast sections of the city and was felt as far away as Cyprus. Kataeb lawmaker Nadim Gemayel on Thursday met with Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Beirut and its suburbs, Archbishop Elias Audi with talks featuring high on the latest developments in Lebanon namely the municipal elections.
"Today was an occasion to discuss with Archbishop Elias Audi the issues the country is going through. Namely, we went through our concerns about the upcoming municipal elections in a bid to find solutions to avert the feared sectarian imbalance in Beirut municipal council,” Gemayel said after meeting Audi.
