Gemayel Pays Tribute to Gebran Tueni on 19th Assassination Anniversary

On the 19th anniversary of the assassination of Gebran Tueni, Lebanese Kataeb Party leader, MP Samy Gemayel, paid tribute to the late journalist and political activist, honoring his courage and unwavering commitment to Lebanon's sovereignty.

"You defended sovereignty with your words, and your positions troubled them. They decided to eliminate you physically. Their regime has fallen, and today, Lebanon is free from Syrian and Iranian tutelage. The joy of the Lebanese people would have been even greater if you, Pierre [Gemayel], Antoine [Ghanem], and all the martyrs of the Cedar Revolution were here with us today," Gemayel wrote in a post on his X account.

Gebran Tueni, a prominent journalist and editor-in-chief of Annahar newspaper, was known for his steadfast advocacy for Lebanese independence and his unyielding resistance to foreign interference, particularly from Syria and Iran. His vocal opposition to the Syrian regime and his calls for a free Lebanon were not without consequence. In 2005, his life was tragically cut short by a car bombing only one day after returning to Lebanon from France where he spent months fearing assassination.
