Kataeb Party leader, MP Samy Gemayel, called for urgent action to resolve the decades-long disappearance of his party comrade, Boutros Khawand, who vanished in Syrian prisons 33 years ago.

In a post on his X account, Gemayel said that, in light of recent political changes in Lebanon and the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, it is time to uncover Khawand’s fate and bring an end to the prolonged suffering of his family and fellow party members.

“We rely on the President, the government, and the efforts of the Minister of Justice to place this issue at the forefront of discussions with Syria,” Gemayel wrote, emphasizing the need to close the case of the disappeared and finally turn the page on a decades-long wound.
