Kataeb MP Elias Hankach expressed hope that Lebanon quickly overcomes its current challenges for the benefit of the country and its people.
Speaking in an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio station, he emphasized that Lebanon is at a crossroads and must build a new state based on past lessons, turning challenges into opportunities for a better future.
He stressed that no one is above the state and no one can replace it.
Regarding Hezbollah, he criticized its failure to defend Lebanon and achieve the needed balance to deter Israel.
He called for Hezbollah to take a national step by limiting weapons to the state and the Lebanese Army, ensuring that the state does the same with armed factions.
Hankach argued that Hezbollah's portrayal of its military strength as invincible was deceptive propaganda that created an inflated image of the party.
He also stated that Hezbollah must face reality and implement the agreement without manipulating the international community.
On the overseas tour of Kataeb Party leader MP Samy Gemayel, Hankach praised Gemayel's clear vision for Lebanon's future.
He reiterated that the foundation for a new Lebanon is a reconciliation conference among the Lebanese, addressing concerns openly.
He emphasized that Lebanon cannot move forward without resolving internal conflicts between parties and sects.
Hankach affirmed that the Kataeb Party believes a new system or social contract for Lebanon requires consensus among all parties.
He also stressed that Hezbollah must adhere to the rule of law and equality with all Lebanese citizens.
Regarding the presidential elections, Hankach noted the opposition's pressure on the Speaker of the Parliament to elect a new president.
He criticized Hezbollah and its allies for obstructing the process to maintain their control over the state.
Hankach called for the next president to have a clear stance on arms control, prioritizing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and limiting weapons to the state.
He also emphasized that Lebanon's economic recovery, restoring confidence in the financial system, and re-establishing diplomatic relations should be the next president's priorities.
Hankach stressed that while political positions may differ on some issues, the opposition's unity is crucial for the presidential elections, with no disagreement on the qualifications of the next president or the candidates.
