Diplomatic sources from the five-nation group overseeing the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire say behind-the-scenes talks are ongoing between the Lebanese government and the militant group over its remaining weapons.
According to a source cited by the Lebanese newspaper al-Liwaa, several sites north of the Litani River have been handed over as part of an agreement reached between the two parties, away from public attention and media scrutiny.
Under the terms of the ceasefire, the Iran-backed Hezbollah was to pull its fighters back from north of the Litani River and dismantle its military infrastructure south of the river. In return, Israel was expected to fully withdraw its forces from Lebanese soil.
However, Israel continues to hold positions in five strategic areas it views as critical to its security.
