The Bourj Hammoud area witnessed a horrific crime on Monday evening, after citizen "L. D", in her eighties, was attacked with a sharp object inside her home for the purpose of robbery.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was transferred to Saint Joseph Hospital for treatment, but she soon succumbed to her injuries.

Immediately after the incident, security forces arrived at the scene, cordoned off the crime scene, and the relevant authorities began surveying and collecting evidence to identify the perpetrator and uncover the circumstances of what happened.

Initial investigations revealed that the motive was robbery, prompting a pursuit of the suspect and monitoring his movements.

Interestingly, the perpetrator did not stray far from the crime scene, as he attempted to sell the stolen goods at a jewelry store on the same street where the incident occurred.

Here, the Information Branch successfully tracked him down and arrested him while he was attempting to sell the stolen items, before he was taken in for questioning.

It was revealed that the arrested individual is of Syrian nationality and is named "M. A", who confessed during the investigation to committing the crime.

Investigations continue under the supervision of the relevant judiciary to uncover all the circumstances of the incident, while the swift tracking and arrest of the suspect during his attempt to sell the stolen goods was a decisive factor in solving the case.
