Israeli warplanes struck the Qasmiya Bridge over the Litani River in southern Lebanon on Sunday, hours after the military had warned it would target the crossing to prevent Hezbollah from moving fighters and weapons into the area.
Footage circulating online showed the moment the bridge, located along the coastal highway linking southern Lebanon to the rest of the country, was hit and destroyed.

The Israeli military said the strike was intended to disrupt Hezbollah’s ability to transfer operatives and weapons south of the Litani River.
Sunday’s attack destroyed one of the main crossings connecting southern Lebanon to central parts of the country, a route that runs through agricultural areas and is widely used by civilians.
The Israeli military has already destroyed three bridges in southern Lebanon over the past 10 days, part of a broader effort to limit Hezbollah’s mobility.
Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he had instructed the army to “immediately destroy all the bridges over the Litani River that are used for terror activity, to prevent the passage of Hezbollah terrorists and weapons southward.”
Katz also said the army had been ordered to accelerate the demolition of homes in “frontline villages” along the border, describing the approach as similar to operations carried out in Beit Hanoun and Rafah, where Israeli forces created buffer zones by razing buildings during the war against Hamas.
