Israel Issues Mass Evacuation Warning for Tyre, Including Its Christian Quarter, Ahead of Strikes

Israel issued a sweeping evacuation warning for the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, including its Christian quarter and surrounding Palestinian camps, before carrying out a series of airstrikes and artillery attacks across southern Lebanon, further escalating tensions despite ongoing efforts to preserve a fragile ceasefire.

Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee urged residents of Tyre and nearby areas to leave immediately and move north of the Zahrani River, citing what he described as Hezbollah's violations of the ceasefire agreement and attacks on Israel.

“In light of Hezbollah's violation of the ceasefire agreement and its attacks on Israel's civilian home front, the Israel Defense Forces are compelled to act forcefully against it,” Adraee said in a statement.

“The Israeli military does not intend to harm you. For your safety, we call on you to immediately evacuate your homes in accordance with the area shown on the map and move north of the Zahrani River,” he added.

The warning covered residents of Tyre, including those living in the city's Christian neighborhood, as well as the camps and surrounding areas of Shabriha, Hamadiyeh, Jal al-Bahr, Zaqouq al-Mafdi, Al-Bass, Al-Maashouq, Burj al-Shamali, Nabaa, Al-Housh, Rashidiyeh and Ain Baal.

“Your presence near Hezbollah operatives, facilities or military assets puts your lives at risk,” Adraee said.

Referring specifically to the Christian neighborhood of Tyre, he added: “As we warned in recent days, following Hezbollah operatives’ activities inside the city’s Christian neighborhood, the IDF will be forced to act against their terrorist activities in the area in the near future.”

He warned that any building used by Hezbollah for military purposes could become a target.

“To ensure your safety, evacuate your homes immediately and move north beyond the Zahrani River,” he said. “Be advised: any movement south of the Zahrani River may put your life at risk.”

Shortly after the warning, Israeli warplanes launched a series of strikes across the Tyre district and other parts of southern Lebanon.

Airstrikes targeted the Hamadiyeh neighborhood in the town of Abbasiyeh near Tyre, as well as the towns of Kfarsir and Deir Qanoun Ras al-Ain. Witnesses reported a heavy wave of bombardment around the Abbasiyeh area.

Israeli aircraft also carried out two airstrikes on the Popular Housing district in the city of Tyre.

Later in the evening, Israeli artillery shelled the outskirts of the town of Qlayleh.

Further east, in the Jezzine district, Israeli artillery struck the Qatrani area, including locations known as Jourat Khodr and the Qatrani forest.
