Israel Pounds Western Bekaa, Homes Destroyed Across Southern Lebanon

Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire intensified across southern Lebanon on Monday, hitting multiple towns and infrastructure, as the military renewed evacuation warnings for parts of Beirut’s southern suburbs.

At dawn, Israeli forces carried out a series of heavy air raids targeting the towns of Mashghara, Sohmor, Qallaya and Zellaya, destroying several homes. Initial reports said two people were killed and five others wounded in Mashghara. Additional strikes hit Safad al-Battikh and Haris in the Bint Jbeil district.

In the Tyre district, an airstrike on the town of Juwayya completely destroyed a residential building. In nearby Burj Rahhal, a strike on a house killed three people and wounded another, while several homes were damaged. Civil defense teams were working to recover bodies and clear debris from the area.

Israeli warplanes also struck Deir al-Zahrani, with reports of casualties, and later returned for a second raid. The town of Kfarreman was hit twice within less than two hours.

Drone strikes targeted several locations across Nabatiyeh, including a pickup truck on the Mayfadoun road, wounding two people. Additional strikes hit areas near Gandour Hospital in Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa and the Ali al-Taher woodland on the town’s outskirts. A motorcycle was struck near Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital in Toul, while another was targeted on the Hamadiyeh road east of Tyre.

Israeli artillery shelled multiple areas, including the outskirts of Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa, Kfartebnit, Habboush, Kfarjouz, Bafliyeh and Ansariyeh in the Sidon district. The shelling struck a Husseiniya in Ansariyeh, though no casualties were reported.

Overhead, Israeli warplanes and drones were seen flying intensively across villages in the Tyre district, following earlier strikes on Arzoun and Ghandooriyah.

In Beirut’s southern suburbs, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee renewed evacuation warnings, urging residents of Haret Hreik, Ghobeiry, Laylaki, Hadath, Burj al-Barajneh, Tahwitat al-Ghadir and Chiyah to leave the area.

On Sunday, two strikes hit near the Qasmiyeh-Burj Rahal bridge on the highway linking Tyre to Sidon.

The Masnaa border crossing, a vital crossing point between Lebanon and Syria, which had been threatened by Israel on Saturday night, was not bombed. The U.S. reportedly requested that Israel spares the crossing from its attacks, according to Israeli media reports.

In a statement, Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee said the Israeli military had destroyed “a series of terrorist infrastructure sites and weapons depots hidden within civilian areas” across Lebanon in recent days. He said the army had identified and targeted rocket launchers and weapons storage facilities concealed within civilian buildings as part of efforts to weaken Hezbollah and strengthen Israel’s forward defense line.

“Hezbollah operates from within civilian populations in Lebanon and cynically exploits them to carry out attacks against Israeli citizens and army forces,” Adraee said, adding that the military would continue its operations against the Iran-backed group. “The Israeli army will not allow harm to Israeli citizens, particularly residents of the north.”
