The Israeli military warned it would carry out a strike on another bridge over the Litani River in southern Lebanon, citing what it described as Hezbollah’s use of civilian areas to move fighters and weapons southward.
In a statement, the Israeli military said it intends to target the Qasmiya Bridge along the coastal highway, accusing Hezbollah of transferring operatives under the cover of the civilian population. The move, it said, is aimed at preventing the group from reinforcing its positions in southern Lebanon.
Defense Minister Israel Katz said he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had instructed the military to “immediately destroy all the bridges over the Litani River that are used for terror activity,” with the goal of blocking the movement of Hezbollah fighters and weapons into southern areas.
Katz added that he had also directed the army to “accelerate the destruction of Lebanese homes in the line-of-contact villages,” saying the measure was intended to eliminate threats to Israeli communities near the border.
He said the approach would follow the model used in Beit Hanoun and Rafah, referring to widespread demolitions carried out by Israeli forces during ground operations against Hamas in Gaza.
