Forces from an Israeli military combat team attached to the Golani Brigade are taking a period of rest and recuperation after seven months of operations in southern Lebanon, the Israeli military said.

Israeli military spokesperson Ayla Wawia said the forces, operating under the 36th Division, had been active in what Israel describes as a security zone in southern Lebanon, where they were tasked with removing threats to Israel.

The military released footage from soldiers' body cameras showing the troops as they began their rest period.

In recent months, the forces operated in the Beaufort Heights area and recently completed what the military described as a focused operation to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure near the Litani River.

The military said its forces had destroyed more than 900 infrastructure sites used by Hezbollah and uncovered weapons depots containing RPGs, explosive devices, booby-trapped drones and Kalashnikov rifles.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the end of the combat activity, Golani Brigade Commander Col. Ayoub Kayuf said the troops had operated according to the brigade's traditions and values throughout the deployment.

“During these months, we operated in the spirit of Golani. In Golani, we always win. We do not return before completing the mission. We never break. We lead our soldiers from the front, preserve the heroism and legacy of those who fell, and remain human even when facing the enemy,” Kayuf said.

“This is how we operated, and this is how we will continue to operate,” he added.

Kayuf said the fighting had come at a heavy cost but argued that the military's operations had produced tangible results for Israeli communities.

“We paid a heavy price during the fighting over these months, but there is also a result to this fighting,” he said. “Look around you: towns are living their lives and celebrating the holidays, businesses are open and kindergartens continue their daily routines. This is what we fought for, and this is why we continue to fight.”
