Israeli Raids Target South Lebanon and Bekaa as Hostilities Show No Sign of Easing

Israeli airstrikes and artillery bombardment continued across southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley on Thursday, a day after a deadly wave of attacks killed 12 people and wounded 13 others in the towns of Tayr Debba, Haris and the southern city of Sidon.

The renewed strikes came as Israeli forces intensified military operations in several areas of southern Lebanon, while local reports indicated continued clashes with Hezbollah fighters and attempted Israeli advances in parts of the border region.

In the Jezzine district, Israeli warplanes carried out four airstrikes before noon on the outskirts of the town of Qatrani, targeting an area below Shbeil School. The area had also been subjected to sustained artillery shelling since around 8 a.m., with more than 15 shells reported to have struck the vicinity.

A series of Israeli airstrikes later targeted multiple locations across southern Lebanon, including the area between the towns of Sajd and Rihan, Wadi Barghaz, Sawaneh, Majdal Selm, Arzi, Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, Abbassiyeh and Touline.

In the Tyre district, an Israeli drone struck the town of Shaabiyeh near a facility operated by the Islamic Health Society.

Israeli artillery also shelled the outskirts of Kfar Shouba in the Hasbaya district, while additional bombardment targeted Wadi al-Slouqi, Wadi al-Hujair and the vicinity of Ghandooriyeh.

According to Lebanon's National News Agency, Israeli forces attempted to advance from the Tayr Harfa–Jebbin axis toward a nearby valley in what appeared to be preparations for entering the town.

The reported advance coincided with more than 15 Israeli airstrikes on Majdal Zoun and Wadi Hassan, alongside heavy artillery fire.

The agency said fierce clashes erupted between Israeli troops and Hezbollah fighters, who reportedly used rockets and an attack drone during the confrontations. The fighting continued until late Wednesday night.

On Thursday morning, Israeli artillery renewed its bombardment of Wadi Hassan and surrounding areas using heavy 155mm shells, while Israeli fighter jets and drones maintained intensive flights over the region.

Around 5 a.m., an Israeli drone targeted a house in the Maqased neighborhood of Nabatiyeh, setting the building and several parked vehicles on fire.

Overnight, Israeli artillery shelled Seir al-Gharbiyeh, Adchit, the Ali al-Taher woodland on the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, the area surrounding the Popular Relief Hospital in Nabatieh and the Kfar Remman roundabout.

Israeli forces also opened fire with heavy machine guns before dawn toward several border villages in the central sector.

In eastern Lebanon, Lebanon's National News Agency reported that an Israeli drone struck a house in the plains of Taraya, west of Baalbek.

A series of Israeli airstrikes also targeted Jabal Mashghara in the western Bekaa Valley, while another strike hit the town of Sohmor.

Elsewhere in the Baalbek region, an Israeli drone strike on the outskirts of Hazin, west of the city, sparked large fires in dry wheat fields, causing significant damage to agricultural land and the area surrounding a nearby home.

On the Israeli side, the military said two rockets landed near an area where Israeli forces were operating in southern Lebanon on Thursday morning.
