Israeli Troops Capture Two Hezbollah Operatives in Southern Lebanon

Israeli forces captured two armed Hezbollah operatives from the group’s elite Radwan Force during operations in southern Lebanon over the weekend, the Israeli military announced on Monday.

According to the Israeli army, troops from the Givati Brigade identified the two fighters as they were preparing to launch anti-tank missiles at Israeli forces and toward Israeli territory. The military said the operatives surrendered shortly afterward.

Israeli troops also seized weapons and additional military equipment at the scene, the army said, adding that the building from which the fighters had been operating was destroyed overnight.

The two detainees were transferred to Israel for interrogation by Unit 504 of the Military Intelligence Directorate, which specializes in human intelligence gathering.

Information obtained during questioning indicated that the operatives had been deployed to southern Lebanon from the Beqaa Valley at the outset of the war with Iran, according to the military.

The Israeli army said the case highlighted what it described as a failure by the Lebanese army to prevent the movement of Hezbollah fighters and weapons south of the Litani River.
