Justice Minister Adel Nassar met with Dutch Ambassador to Lebanon Frank Mollen for talks centered on judicial reform and the ongoing investigation into the Beirut port explosion.
Following the meeting, Mollen described the discussion as “engaging and highly beneficial,” commending Nassar’s commitment to strengthening Lebanon’s judiciary.
“I had a very interesting and productive discussion with Minister Nassar, who reaffirmed the importance of judicial reform in Lebanon to ensure its independence, effectiveness, and service to the people. I was pleased to hear this,” Mollen said.
The ambassador also underscored the significance of the probe into the 2020 Beirut port blast, which has been stalled by political interference and legal challenges.
“He strongly hopes that Judge Bitar will be able to successfully complete the investigation soon and continue his work from there,” Mollen noted. “He expressed his support for the judiciary, emphasizing its independence and the significance of its role. He also highlighted the need for judges to earn and maintain public trust. I believe he is doing a great job.”
Mollen further stressed that an independent and impartial judiciary remains a top priority for Nassar, adding that the minister “deserves our help” in advancing reforms that are crucial for Lebanon’s future.
