Lebanese Kataeb Party leader, MP Samy Gemayel, received a phone call from Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti, where the two officials discussed the latest developments in Lebanon, particularly the newly brokered ceasefire and the upcoming presidential election session.
During the call, Gemayel reiterated the Kataeb Party’s firm position that the current changes in Lebanon should be seen as a real opportunity for a lasting solution to the country’s crisis. He stressed that Lebanon must prevent the repetition of past conflicts, underscoring the importance of moving towards a more stable and peaceful future.
Another key focus of the discussion was the role of the Lebanese Army in the coming period, with Gemayel highlighting the military's crucial responsibility to maintain security and stability in Lebanon. The Kataeb chief emphasized the need for the army to deploy across all regions of the country, stressing that it must be given the authority to function freely in all areas so that it is fully able to carry out its role in ensuring the safety of Lebanese citizens and preserving national peace.
Gemayel also expressed the Lebanese people’s firm stance against reverting to the previous phase of instability, reaffirming that the Lebanese are determined to build a country based on solid principles where all citizens enjoy equal rights under the constitution and the law.
The Kataeb Party leader underscored that these changes should pave the way for a future that guarantees national unity and the well-being of every Lebanese citizen, regardless of their background.
In conclusion, Gemayel expressed his gratitude to Egypt for its ongoing support of Lebanon and its people, thanking Minister Abdel Atti for continuing to stand by the Lebanese people during these challenging times.
