The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) on Thursday condemned an Israeli incursion into the southern town of Blida in Marjeyoun, describing it as a “criminal act” and a violation of Lebanese sovereignty.
According to an official statement issued by the Army Command, in the early hours of October 30, a hostile ground unit entered Blida, opened fire on the municipal building, and targeted an employee, who was killed during the attack.
“The actions of the Israeli enemy constitute a blatant breach of the cessation of hostilities agreement and UN Security Council Resolution 1701,” the statement said. “Their pretexts and claims are entirely unfounded and are intended to justify repeated violations against Lebanon and its citizens.”
The LAF called on the Cessation of Hostilities Monitoring Committee, also known as the Mechanism, to intervene and prevent further Israeli violations. The army said it continues to monitor these incidents in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
