Lebanese Army Foils Rocket Attack, Seizes Weapons in Southern Raid

The Lebanese Army announced Sunday it had foiled a planned rocket attack on Israel after raiding an apartment in southern Lebanon, seizing weapons, and arresting several suspects.

In a statement, the army said its Directorate of Intelligence had uncovered plans for a new rocket launch targeting Israeli territory, based on information obtained during ongoing investigations into a group previously detained for firing rockets from southern Lebanon earlier this month.

Acting on the intelligence, a military intelligence patrol, backed by an army unit, raided a residential apartment in the Zahrani area, near the southern coastal city of Sidon. Several rockets and their launch platforms were discovered and confiscated during the operation.

The army said multiple individuals suspected of involvement were arrested at the scene. The confiscated weapons were handed over to the relevant authorities, and the suspects are being interrogated under the supervision of the competent judiciary, the statement added.
