The Lebanese army has withdrawn from at least seven positions along the border with Israel, witnesses told Reuters on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that the army has repositioned several of its positions along the frontier to new locations, without specifying the exact sites.
MTV Lebanon reported that the army withdrew from recently established positions in southern Lebanon but did not abandon its posts.
Al-Hadath also reported that the Lebanese Army has vacated border positions in Ayta al-Shaab, Qouzah, Dibel, Ramiyeh, Ain Ebel, and Rmeish.
These reports come as Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Katz instructed the army “to advance and seize additional controlling areas in Lebanon to prevent firing on Israeli border settlements.”
