Lebanon’s Cabinet on Friday approved a key draft law aimed at strengthening judicial independence and overhauling the country’s justice system.

The draft law, prepared by the Ministry of Justice, is now set to be referred to Parliament for further debate and ratification.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam presided over the Cabinet session at the Grand Serail in Beirut, with all ministers in attendance.

The proposed bill is intended to shield the judiciary from political interference, restructure its institutional framework, and ensure that judicial appointments and disciplinary measures are conducted in a transparent and autonomous manner.
