Lebanon’s government just did something that would have been unthinkable a year ago. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s Cabinet imposed a blanket ban on Hezbollah’s military and security activities last week, ordering the Lebanese Armed Forces to stop rocket launches and other attacks from Lebanese territory.

In recent hours, a historic phone call took place between President of the Lebanese Republic, Joseph Aoun, and his Syrian counterpart, Ahmad al-Sharaa.
During the call, both leaders agreed on the importance of joint security coordination to control the situation on the ground, prevent security breakdowns, and protect civilians.
"Nidaa al-Watan" newspaper learned that the conversation was constructive, and full coordination between the official authorities of both countries was agreed upon.
The situation is moving towards de-escalation, with both sides emphasizing that only the official bodies are authorized to handle the issue and secure the borders.
