Lebanon Denies Reports of Trump Meeting With Regional Leaders in Saudi Arabia

A senior official at Lebanon’s presidential palace has dismissed media reports claiming U.S. President Donald Trump is planning to meet with the leaders of Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine during his visit to Saudi Arabia.

The official, speaking to The National, said Beirut has received no formal invitation and has had “no coordination whatsoever” regarding such a meeting.

Earlier this week, Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper reported that the proposal for the high-level meeting was initiated by the Saudi Crown Prince and has received Trump’s approval. Speculation had circulated in regional media suggesting that Trump would hold joint talks with the four Arab leaders to explore ways of resolving longstanding disputes between each country and Israel.

But Lebanese officials say the idea of such a gathering appears unfounded.

“It is more likely that President Trump’s trip to the region will be largely focused on trade and economic issues,” the palace source said.

Trump is scheduled to begin a four-day visit to the Gulf this week, with Saudi Arabia as his first stop. The trip is expected to center on strengthening economic partnerships, discussing efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, and reviving stalled nuclear negotiations with Iran.
