Document Shows Bassil's 'Unnecessary' Expenses During 2017 Trip
Political activist Nawfal Daou on Monday revealed a document showing the cost that the Lebanese treasury had incurred in exchange for opening the VIP lounge at London's Heathrow Airport to Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
According to the official paper, a sum of £9,500 ($12,500) was paid as "extraordinary expenses" to reserve one of the British airport's premium lounges for Bassil and the accompanying delegation during two layovers on their way to and from the United States back in 2017.
"This is how we address squandering and fight corruption!" Daou wrote on Twitter.
