Mawlawi Vows No Leniency Towards Celebratory Gunfire on New Year’s Eve
Caretaker Minister of Interior, Bassam Mawlawi, vowed that the security apparatuses would not be lenient towards the random celebratory gunfire on New Year’s, urging citizens to cooperate with the security forces and to respect their instructions.
He explained that 519 security members would be deployed nationwide on New Year’s Eve.
Mawlawi’s remarks came during a press conference he held at Internal Security Forces’ base in Achrafieh.
On the recurrent attacks on al-Jadeed TV channel, he said that serious investigations were being conducted.
“We are adamant about uncovering the truth,” he said.
