On the anniversary of the 1980 Zahle War, Kataeb MP Nadim Gemayel paid tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of the Bekaa city, reflecting on its enduring spirit and its pivotal role in Lebanon’s history.
"Zahle is free and will remain free; Lebanon is free and will remain free," Gemayel wrote on X.
"After 45 years, the hands that reached out to Zahle were broken, and the head of the regime that attempted to undermine Lebanon was toppled," he added.
Gemayel emphasized that the city's resistance to foreign attempts to dictate its fate played a crucial role in safeguarding Lebanon’s independence.
"Zahle, thanks to the sacrifices of its heroes and the blood of its martyrs, remained steadfast, proud, and resilient."
"A salute to the heroes of Zahle and peace to the souls of our righteous martyrs."
