The campaign targeting Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi cannot be dismissed as a passing social media storm. It is a calculated act of intimidation, a sectarian message wrapped in digital vulgarity, and a dangerous attempt to drag one of Lebanon’s highest spiritual authorities into the swamp of militia politics.

Lebanon stands at the intersection of environmental degradation, economic collapse, and political paralysis, making an inclusive climate and energy transition difficult to achieve. Kataeb Lawmaker Nadim Gemayel pointed out that in 2005, Lebanon was liberated from the Syrian occupation, and truth prevailed, with the State as its foundation.
"Today, the country is experiencing abnormalities due to the dominance of a party over Lebanon and its institutions, leading to the situation we are facing now," Gemayel said in a press conference on public and media freedoms.
He addressed the Lebanese people, saying: "Let us break free from all the barriers that have stood in our way during this phase and let us speak the truth without fear. The time has come to liberate our country, our judiciary, and our homeland."
For his part, Lawyer Majd Harb called on the honorable judges of this country to stand by the citizens and protect them.
He added: "For more than a year, we have remained silent in the face of threats and bloodshed, but we can no longer endure it. No one has been arrested, and we are going through the worst phase. The judiciary is persecuting those with free opinions, and we will present some reports to the impartial judges."
