Members of the five-party ceasefire monitoring committee met in Naqoura on Friday for their 15th round of talks, continuing coordinated efforts aimed at preserving stability and securing a lasting cessation of hostilities, the U.S. embassy in Beirut said in a statement.
According to the embassy, military representatives at the meeting provided operational updates and focused on strengthening military-to-military cooperation, including ways to enhance coordination on the ground. Participants agreed that a stronger Lebanese Armed Forces remains essential, describing the army as the guarantor of security in the South Litani sector and a critical pillar for the success of ongoing efforts.
Alongside the military discussions, civilian participants concentrated on creating the conditions necessary for displaced residents to return safely to their homes. Talks also addressed reconstruction needs and broader economic priorities, with participants stressing that sustainable political and economic progress is vital to consolidating security gains and maintaining long-term peace.
The committee underscored that advances on the security front and progress on political and economic tracks are closely linked and mutually reinforcing. Participants said both are indispensable to ensuring long-term stability and prosperity for all sides involved.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue the process, with members looking ahead to the next round of regularly scheduled talks in 2026, the embassy said.
