National Commission for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared Calls for Unity, Support, and Caution in Pursuit of Truth

Lebanon's National Commission for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared has established an internal crisis cell to handle calls from families, collect information, and verify circulating data.

The commission also announced plans to form field teams to conduct interviews related to the fate of the missing individuals.

It called for unified efforts and coordination with the National Committee for the Missing, urging political parties to refrain from politicizing or affiliating the issue with specific factions, as such actions obstruct efforts to uncover the truth.

The commission underlined the importance of avoiding any political exploitation.

Furthermore, the commission stressed the need for support to carry out its mission effectively.

It also highlighted the shared responsibility of the relevant Lebanese authorities, noting that the issue involves another country and requires establishing direct international communication channels.

The commission expressed hope in the media's crucial role in advancing the cause, emphasizing the importance of respecting individuals' rights and dignity, and urged caution in the dissemination of information.
