State Security Arrests Two Suspects Over Alleged Drug Promotion Among Minors

Lebanon’s State Security Directorate said Friday that it had arrested two Lebanese men suspected of promoting drugs, particularly among minors, and seized a large quantity of Captagon pills and hashish in their possession.

The arrests followed a security monitoring operation targeting drug trafficking and distribution networks, especially those involved in reaching minors, according to a statement issued by the directorate’s Media, Guidance and Public Relations Department.

A patrol from the Akkar Regional Directorate’s Qbayat office arrested the two men, identified by their initials as A.Y. and K.A., inside a barbershop in the town of Al-Amair in Wadi Khaled, northern Lebanon.

The suspects were arrested on suspicion of involvement in drug promotion, particularly among minors, the statement said.

During the operation, security forces seized a large quantity of Captagon tablets and hashish from the two men, it added.

Following their arrest, the suspects confessed to the charges during questioning, according to the statement. Investigators also found that several judicial warrants had been issued against them.

On the instructions of the competent judicial authorities, the necessary legal measures were subsequently taken against the two suspects, State Security said.
