Poll Results Begin to Emerge in North Lebanon and Akkar

Ballot boxes closed Sunday evening in the second round of Lebanon’s municipal and mayoral elections, with initial results from North Lebanon and Akkar governorates starting to trickle in.

Municipal Contests

The list backed by the Kataeb Party, Lebanese Forces and Majd Harb won in Tannourine.

The list backed by the Lebanese Forces won in Bcharri.

The list backed by the Marada Movement won in Zgharta. 

In the town of Rachiine, the list backed by the Kataeb Party, Lebanese Forces, and the Independence Movement has secured a strong lead. The same coalition also emerged ahead by a wide margin in the town of Aachach, reinforcing its foothold in northern strongholds.

Meanwhile, in Kfar Dlaqous, located in Zgharta district, preliminary results showed the list backed by the Marada Movement in the lead. 

In Kfar Aabida, the list backed by the Kataeb Party and Lebanese Forces has won the elections.

In Chekka, the list backed by the Kataeb Party and Lebanese Forces is in the lead.

 

Mukhtar Results Roll In

As for the mukhtar (local head) elections, early results are as follows:

  • Tanios Saadeh in Ram
  • Maurice Hokayem won in Aartez
  • Wael Zaher won in Ejdaabrine
  • Bassam Halal won in Haret Khassa
  • Hanna Barakat won in Abdelli
  • Gaby Hanna won in Eddeh
  • Mirva Bashir Karam won in Fih
  • Tony Romanos won in Kfar Aabida
  • Imad El-Borji won in Eastern Amyoun
  • Hanna Joumhour won in Kfaraaka
  • Tony Fadel won in Kfarhazir 
  • Raymond Alwan won in Ayto 
  • Charbel Elias Chalouhy and Edmond Abi Ghosn won in Dar Baachtar
  • Jean Hbayter and George Al-Zaouk won in Rachiine
