President Aoun Makes Surprise Visits to Vehicle Registration Center and Beirut Port

In a surprise visit on Friday, President Joseph Aoun toured the Vehicle Registration Center in Dekwaneh, delivering a strong anti-corruption message and calling for tighter oversight of public institutions.

Aoun was accompanied by Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar as he made his way through the facility, urging employees to act as watchdogs against misconduct.

“Anyone who covers up corruption is complicit in it,” the president told staff. “You are our eyes here.”

“We are here to follow up. If you see anything wrong, report it directly.”

Following the stop in Dekwaneh, Aoun headed to the Port of Beirut, where he met with acting Director General of Customs Raymond Khoury. The president toured customs operations and security checkpoints across the port—a critical commercial gateway that has come under scrutiny in recent years over alleged corruption.

Public Works and Transport Minister, Fayez Rasamny, joined Aoun for the visit to the port.
