The Lebanese Army has intensified its crackdown on election-related violence, arresting 86 individuals for firing weapons during the latest round of municipal elections in the governorates of North Lebanon and Akkar, the Army Command announced on Friday.

An assistant government commissioner to the Military Tribunal, Claude Ghanem, filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against 21 people suspected to be involved in the Qabr Shmoun incident, as reported by the National News Agency.
Four of those accused are already detained on charges of murder, attempted murder, opening fire on civilians and possession of unlicensed weapons.
Judge Ghanem referred the detainees to the First Military Investigative Judge Fadi Sawwan calling for the accused interrogation and also requesting that Sawwan issues arrest warrants for the remaining 17 suspects.
