This was not the first time a Lebanese official had visited the White House and received support. A firefight erupted at noon Tuesday and is ongoing in the village of Bibnine in Akkar between two local families, L'Orient Today's correspondent in the area reported, adding that two two people have been injured.
Here’s what we know:
• The clash took place near the village’s graveyard and was reportedly ignited by past disputes between the Soufan and Bourghol families.
• The injured included one member of the Bourghol family and another person in the nearby area of Abdeh, who was hit by a stray bullet, according to our correspondent.
• Residents of the area are calling on security forces and political actors in the area to intervene and stop the fighting quickly.
